Rochford District Council will offer 11 self-contained rooms at the Kings Head in Rochford to individuals who urgently need to be housed, ensuring that they can continue to live in Rochford District and maintain their local ties and support networks. Additionally, the use of the Kings Head will enable the authority to make a minimum cost saving of £40,000 per year.
To ensure that the scheme is available to those who need it the most, the Council will only consider those who are deemed to be in priority housing need and the authority will continue to manage the accomodation closely.
Cllr Mike Webb, Portfolio Holder for the Community, said: “We are facing an ever-increasing demand for emergency, temporary accommodation and the re-purposing of the empty building at 11 West Street will go some way towards helping to meet this need. The scheme makes fantastic use of a vacant property and aim to ensure a smoother transition for those in need."
Two drop-in sessions were held at Rochford Parish Council on the 30th July 2018 to discuss the plans with nearby residents and businesses. If you have any queries about the scheme, please email the project team directly: firstname.lastname@example.org.
