At Hawkwell Baptist Church we have held various activities which include making healthy snacks from fresh fruit and vegetables.
Children age 7+ and their families are preparing their own vegetables and fruits and making kebabs. Also arts and crafts themed on autumn, all funded by Sanctuary Housing.
Volunteers in the community have enjoyed seeing young people learning new life skills to make their own lunches. One lad said “I have really enjoyed being able to use a sharp knife on my own and being trusted to make my lunch”, all children are closely supervised during these activities which take place in a Covid compliant environment.
In a separate project Julie and James Gooding have also supported families by distributing children’s lunch packs made by Monkey Bizzness Hockley where over £1000 was donated by the kindness of our residents in the community.
There are many other parcels being distributed through food donations from local supermarkets including Coop Hockley, Tesco’s and Waitrose. We are really appreciative of all these donations for local residents.
No one needs to go hungry.
We have even been donated boxes of toothpaste which are being distributed at the same time, through an appeal organised by Cllr Arthur Williams.
