Work Done

You may be interested to know that Rochford District Litter Picks (voluntary groups ) has collected litter and rubbish within the District during the course of this year usually once/twice each week.
Events are organised by myself and very well supported by some of the people who care about our environment from our community. Thank you 🙏
We would not be able to continue collecting without the support of RDC arranging collection of all the bags so that our environment remains clear. I would like to thank RDC efficient officers.

To date we have collected a total of Four hundred and forty seven (447)  black bin liners full of rubbish (recorded on social media). This doesn’t include large items such as bikes, table tops, Gas bottles, oil drums, portable loos, iron bars, fire extinguisher, motorcycle, burnt guttering, road cones or the recyclable bottles/cans.
Cans/bottles are separated and placed in bottle banks or taken home with volunteers to put in their own bins.

We have covered Creeksea Ferry Road, White Hart Lane Hockley , Stambridge Mills, Mill Lane, Stambridge sea wall, Rochford Recreational Grounds, Rochford Bobbin and Nature reserve, Magnolia Park and Road, Rectory Road-Golden Cross, Ironwell Lane, Clements Hall, Cherry Orchard Jubilee country park, Hockley Woods, Hullbridge Recreational Grounds, Glencroft open space, Maryland’s Nature reserve, Hockley Shopping parade, Hawkwell Shopping parade, Hawkwell Common, Ashingdon Park/memorial hall, Hall Road & cemetery.
Yesterday afternoon we litter picked in Hockley woods and I am pleased to say there was less than half a bag.
I have informed RDC that dog Poo bins were full, this is due to workers not available during the weekend.
................................................................................
Today (30th November) at Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park we collected 13 sacks of rubbish as well as a fire extinguisher, road cones, paint pot, spray cans, wheels, metal strips. It was heavily laden with KFC and other take away packages, dog poo bags 🙄 disposed of irresponsibly by the FEW dog owners.
Thank you to all our lovely volunteers who continue to care about our environment. This includes

Besides all the 15 sacks of rubbish collected today there was a metal bar and curtain track, fridge drawer, there is also a pumped up West Ham football.  If you lost it please go and collect from Rectory Road (near the park entrance).
Volunteers today included Lin Freeman Wendy Ive, Rose, Sue Leonard, Kevin Goodchild, Mike Griffiths, Jay Tee, Chris Berry, Stephen Parker, Ian Foster, James Gooding, Julie Gooding. A huge well done.

Community Litter Pick
If anyone has misplaced their Woody hat, it’s been found at Clements Hall Playing Fields, along with 3 roadworks cones, garden fencing, a broken umbrella dumped in the middle of the car park, golfers pads lots of smashed bud bottles etc.- we had the party aftermath to clean up from!
Dog walkers were concerned about their dogs cutting their paws on the shards of glass littering the area. In an hour we collected 13 sacks of rubbish plus all the bulky items not bagged.
Thank you once again to our super team of volunteers Stephen Parker , Chris Berry , Mike Griffiths, Kevin Goodchild , Lin Freeman Julie Gooding

Another really good turn out of volunteers today (26th October).
This was not our usual litter pick, as the shopping parade in Hawkwell was looking neglected.
We managed to litter pick from Hawkwell Common down to the shops, we then set about clearing leaves rubbish and weeds outside the shops where they had grown in between the footpath.

People in our community really noticed the difference.
We collected 13 bags of rubbish and were able to gift a couple of bags to a lady who wants to mulch her garden. Even better!

Many thanks to Julia, Zac and Josh - always lovely to see younger families , Stephen Parker Chris Berry Nicole Permeke Justin Townsend, James Gooding Julie Gooding I think we have made a huge difference to our community.

If you would like to help next Monday 10am,  we will be back to ‘normal litter picking’ at Clements Hall Leisure Centre (Park Gardens entrance) Hawkwell Hockley.

We have some beautiful autumnal trees and open spaces to enjoy at Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park. Why do (some) irresponsible people choose to throw their dog poo 💩 bags in our undergrowth instead of in the bins provided.

Today (19th October) of the 11 sacks of rubbish collected, a large percentage was dog poo bags.
Thanks to our lovely volunteers who enjoyed being out in the fresh air. Including Mike Griffiths,Kevin Goodchild, Ray Fisher, Chris Berry, James Gooding, Julie Gooding.

rubbish

Today’s litter pick (21st September) at Clements Hall Leisure Centre, we certainly got more than we bargained for!
Some uncaring ‘party people’ decided to leave their Prosecco type bottles smashed near our brooks.(see before and after photo). Scales, bike, wood and a bar stool were all collected.

The most worrying items are the NSPCC bags, which are not responsibly distributed as they should be. They were not only left here, but also found last week too! Who is working for NSPCC and letting these bags litter our community?
More than 12 bags of rubbish and recycling collected again today.
Thanks for all our volunteers: Kevin Goodchild , Mike Griffiths, Ian Foster , Chris Berry, Stephen Parker , James Gooding , Julie Gooding
You have done a fantastic job.

rubbish

Thanks to all who took park in The Great British September Clean  #thegreatbritishseptemberclean today, (Saturday 19th September), at Ashingdon Memorial Park,  Initiated by the Rt Honourable Amanda Milling.

Lots of bottles, cans and two footballs were found amongst the debris.  Our ‘Covid safety 6’ included Janice Wilks and Hubby, Josephine and granddaughter Jo, James Gooding and Cllr Julie Gooding.
We organised a litter pick here only 4 weeks ago, so to fill 6 rubbish bags was not too bad.

RUBBISH

Today (14th September) we returned to White Hart Lane Hawkwell, where we had previously litter picked/cleared only 6 weeks ago. Unfortunately, groups of teenagers gather here in their school uniforms to ‘meet’ their friends. 12 sacks of rubbish, 6 bags of recycling bottles and cans, a burnt out motor bike, burnt guttering and doors, Road signs etc gathered to be taken away by #rochforddistrict council.

Thanks to Mark Griffiths, Kevin /Katherine Goodchild, Mike and Ray Fisher.  Also, a separate working group included: Ian Foster, Cllr Julie Gooding, James Gooding, Stephen Parker and Pat.

To address the problem we have made contact with Railway Security, as the bonfires could cause a hazard by being so near to the railway line. They will be carrying out regular surveillance on the area. Also the knife is in the safety of our local police.

Quite a haul in only 6 weeks!

Today June 30th at Lions Creek going towards Wallasea we hit a record of 32 bags of rubbish rescued from the ditches. Our community has some fantastic volunteers who helped clear along a rural road and ditches, lots of enthusiastic helpers. We watched our humans clear loads of the black bags of suspicious debris which clogs up the ditches and causes flooding. Well done everyone and thank You for helping today.
